Do you ever wish that God would pronounce judgment on “those people”? The ancient Israelites cheered as a shepherd-turned-preacher named Amos arrived and announced judgment on Israel’s enemies. But then in a surprise twist, he also announces judgment on them. Their signature sin? Injustice. God calls them out and then invites them in the only hopeful words in the book to a promise of restoration (9:11-15).
