Hey, welcome to Gracepoint – the church for people who don’t like church.

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

What’s a church for people who don’t like church?

It’s a provocative statement, we know (that’s why we like it). What we mean is that the word “church” means different things to different people – and not all of them are good. As a result, a lot of people have given up on church, and maybe you’re one of them. Maybe you’ve been hurt by church politics. Disillusioned by hypocrisy. Bored by irrelevance.

But we’ll let you in on a too-well-kept secret: that’s not church. Not how God intends it, anyway. At Gracepoint, the masks come off. We believe that the true church is one of authenticity and grace – which means you can come as you are and be loved and accepted for who you are – no pretenses, no false religiosity, no strings.

What kind of people will I meet at Gracepoint?

We’re a church of real people. We have struggling marriages, self-destructing children, employment challenges, broken-down bodies, and faith questions. The key is that we are changing. We are being transformed – together. We are all here to worship God, learn from and about Him, support each other, and work together to make our families stronger and our community and world a place of peace and hope for everyone.

So what can I expect if I show up on Sunday?

First of all, you can expect a welcoming, informal atmosphere. Our services are usually about 75-90 minutes long. There’s lots of loud, modern music – raising the roof is one of our favourite ways to worship God. There might be a video or two, and then one of our pastors will give a 35-minute talk that applies wisdom from the Bible to everyday life. We’ll also collect an offering (where people give money to support the church and our work in the community), but as our guest you are under absolutely no obligation to give.

If you’ve got kids, they usually stay in the service for the first bit (don’t worry, it’s the music and video part so they won’t get bored) and then they head out to their own special programs in different parts of the church. Check out our kids programs here.

Please tell me I don’t have to wear a tie.

You’re welcome to wear a tie if you like, but you might be the only one! Come dressed in whatever makes you feel at home – jeans and t-shirts are the norm, but we won’t turn you away if you show up in your housecoat and slippers.

Will I have to say/do/sign anything?

Don’t worry, we won’t give you a name tag or make you stand up and introduce yourself. You can stay as anonymous as you want, although we’d certainly like to get to know you better. In the program you’ll receive as you go into the service there is a “friendship card” you can fill out and then place in the offering bags at they go around. It’s a good place to let us know you were here and hit us with any questions you might have.

Why are there two locations?

Gracepoint is a “multi-site church,” which simply means we’re one church that meets in more than one location. Since we’re all about getting out there, being involved in the community and making as many new friends as possible, it makes sense that we meet in different places and communities instead of staying as a mega-church in one place. But the services are the same, with live musicians and speakers at both, so just pick the campus that’s closest to you. On Sundays at 10:30 a.m. we meet at our Bell Centre campus , and at 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. we meet at our Surrey South campus.
